Welcome to the New Year!
We just ended the year with our last speaker meeting, and want to thank all of you for your continued support. We began this journey not knowing where to begin, when a group of us sat down and brainstormed. We rewrote our bylaws, discussed tasks/events/challenges, elected a new board, and hit the ground running with so many obstacles.
We should mention and thank St. James Chapel and the Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to hold all of our meetings there until the museum was available. In addition to this, we should recognize Veith Electric for their donation of all of the lighting in the museum, fabricating a stand for the penny farthing; Gary Calcagni for installing the lighting and assisting with the painting; Don Veith for towing the float for our Fourth of July parade, Kerri Palermo's daughter, Kristina and friends, for carrying our emblem in the parade. And special thanks to Jim Goring and Richard Mattocks for their continued dedication as part of the museum committee, doing research, building shelves, the go-to people to get projects completed there, all spearheaded by Joanne Lown.
We also want to thank former members of the board and special projects such as David Ray, Marge Horton, Jeff Fishwick, Denise Byrnes, Zack Veith in his role as museum curator, and Marilyn and Carl Grieco for their continued support at the Little Red School House.
We were able to act quickly to schedule monthly speaker meetings, we set up a facebook page, instagram, a website, we cleaned out/painted/revamped/organized and opened our museum. We held events at the Little Red Schoolhouse, we participated in the 4th of July parade, to mention just a few things. We ordered and sold 500 calendars this year as our major fundraiser. Special thanks to Carney Rhinevault, who spent long hours standing in front of the Post Office selling the calendars. We also collected and distributed hats and gloves for the four elementary schools in Hyde Park.
We already have our guest speakers lined up for 2023, and plenty of festivities. We will be forwarding all our upcoming activities in the next few weeks.
Happy Near Year!
